History encompasses all aspects of past human endeavor; it encourages students to
think broadly and to attempt to integrate all of their knowledge into a meaningful
whole.
Earn your Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in history or a major in social
science with history as a leading subject. I you're majoring in another field, you
can minor in history or take courses for general interest, elective credit or as part
of the Arts and Sciences Core.
Our Masters and Doctoral programs will prepare you for a career in research, education,
public service,and other fields both within and outside the academy. Our Doctoral
curriculum features concentrations in European History; United States History; Military
History; and Body, Place and Identity.

Departmental Library holdings include extensive U.S. and military history reference
materials, with more than 3,500 monographs grouped into sections including world,
U.S., Texas and military history.
